Choosing the Photos Team: Keeping the Memory of Animals Alive

I chose the Photos team because I enjoy photographing animals, and I want these photos to be useful to other people too. But there is also a more personal reason behind this project. I want to keep the memory of these animals alive through photography.

Some of them are stray animals, and finding them again is not always easy. Sometimes I see an animal in a place and I do not know if I will see it again, so I want to use that moment to keep a memory. For me, each photo is a way to save a small moment of their lives and share it with others.

My project is to have 30 animal photographs published in the WordPress Photo Directory under CC0, so other people can use them freely. To do this, I need to select the photos, check that they follow the guidelines, and write alternative text that explains what is in each image for people who use screen readers.

I have already submitted photographs and received both approvals and rejections. This has helped me understand that contributing is more than uploading a photo I like. I also need to check its quality and learn from the moderators’ feedback to improve my next submissions.

By the end of the program, I hope to be better at choosing my photographs and describing them clearly. I also want to understand how people work together in a community like WordPress. I will use this blog to record my progress and what I learn, along with the memories of the animals that are the main reason I chose this project.
